On the Upswing Now

I made it through round three. This one was a little rugged. I was pretty miserable with nausea and headaches the first couple days and then I got a bad case of the runs yesterday. I'm feeling better today, but not 100% yet. I'm hoping to be back up and running this afternoon.

Despite feeling crappy we had a nice visit from my mom. We put her right to work! She did an amazing job weeding, planting and transplanting! We're really lucky to have a gardener who flies in from the east coast! Things are looking much more pulled together here. Now my job is to spread a bunch of mulch to keep the weeds down (all this rain means the weeds will keep coming for a bit here).

Keith is back in Oakland now (got back late Sunday). After he left Duluth, his mom took a turn for the better. She hasn't been on the ventilator for a couple of days now! And she was moved to a rehabilitation section of the hospital. They'll be working to get her back into shape so she do more things for herself.

  1. Thanks for the report. I am very sorry to hear that round three was so rough. Had been hoping that you had figured this drug out! But seriously, this is powerful stuff, I am sure, so no easy solution.

That’s great that your mom helped spruce things up in the back 40, a good boost to the spirits.

I am sorry to hear that Keith had to go back to Duluth; you are still in the shit storm (was that your expression?) I hope the latest glimmer of hope is the sign of a true and steady recovery.

Hope you are truly on a upswing yourself and are able to enjoy yourself this weekend.

    Take care.

    Love, Jane

  2. Good to see your entry title - 'On the upswing'. You all certainly deserve some smooth sailing. Hope you get some sun so that you can sit in the backyard and enjoy watching the garden grow and bloom. That's wonderful news that Keith's mom is improving - rehabilitation section sounds promising. Sorry to hear that round three was so rough; enjoy the upswing and hope you and Keith can do something fun on the long weekend. Happy 4th! love, Ellen

  3. What a bummer that you had such a rough time with the treatment on this 3rd round. Have the doctors been able to figure out why this was so much worse than round 2? Terrific to hear that Keith's mom took a turn for the better after he left- maybe she was just waiting for him to get out of town?! Let me be the 1st to wish you a very happy Canada Day and hoping you are feeling up to doing something fun for the 4th of July. love, Sheila
