insertion complete

I just brought E a quesadilla from the cafe downstairs. She approves. Hardest part of the procedure (according to her at least) was waiting around to get a room afterwards. Still no firm departure plans, but it's definitely sounding like a longer stay than originally anticipated. They need to do some flow tests to make sure the port is cool, but there needs to be some healing time prior to that. E is still hoping to get a dose of chemo ASAP. The sharpie mark is another temporary tattoo to add to her "cryptic neurosurgeon marking" collection. On to the next steps....more info as it becomes available. thanks for all the support and good thoughts. Nice to know we're not really doing this alone.

  1. Hello Eileen and Keith,

Thanks again for keeping us informed Keith! Glad to hear that you were able to find a decent quesadilla in the hospital and that Eileen has an appetite.

From the picture, this looks like a very serious procedure. All in 20 minutes? I hope that the flow tests don’t take too long and that the chemo can start to be administered. Also, hope that the two of you find things to keep yourselves occupied while you are waiting. Easier said than done.

    Take good care.
    Love, Jane

  3. Keith- Thanks for all the updates and for being there!!! I'm so glad E is feeling ok and can enjoy a quesadilla. thanks for the picture... I didn't realize the surgery would be on the top of her head. As Jane said, it looks very serious. Hope the chemo can start soon and that her hospital stay isn't too long. Thinking of you....
Take good care. And keep us posted.

  4. Golly, that surgery on the top of the head looks painful. I hope that you're comfortable, Eileen. Just say yes to drugs, I'd say! I suppose doing surgery on the top of your head allows you to rest comfortably; maybe there are other reasons. Thanks, Keith, for keeping us updated!!! You're not alone; we just wish we were closer. I'm delighted to learn from you that Eileen was up for a quesadilla; sure wish I could deliver a couple of tasty quesadillas to both of you! Hope you both have restful nights. love, Sheila
